Delivery day

It means two very different things

For one it means a baby

For me it means a ring

For her she gets her rainbow

A bouncing baby boy

A family now complete

And hearts filled with joy

For me it means a package

No baby in my arms

If I bring my babies up

People feel alarmed

My ring is a symbol

With flowers-two

One for each baby

That I never knew

One is a poppy

In August, she came and went

My first love and first loss

Now she is heaven sent

The other is a hawthorn

He came and went in May

I had hoped this time would be different

But he didn’t stay

I’m happy for my friend

But I’m waiting for my turn

My deepest desire

A family is what I yearn

I continue this journey

Forever treading water

I just pray I get to meet

My third son or daughter
